You can get the entire 8-module pack of add-ons for MUCH less than the quoted price above (it’s currently $239 for all). We even give away a module for free (XML Sitemap) on top of that. The renewal fees allow us to continue to offer you support as WordPress constantly upgrades their software and your site and allows us to keep the plugin current.

Just to clear up a misunderstanding–you can choose NOT to pay after your 1 year support contact expires, that’s certainly OK by us. Your software doesn’t stop working at that point. You won’t get further upgrades, but if you stay on your current version, it will continue to function as long as WordPress itself supports the API calls we make (they change their internals far more often than we do!).

We have lots of users that feel very differently about the value they receive from AWPCP, so I’m sorry that you don’t agree on that point. I wish you the best with your site development.

Yes luckily I did read the terms. Many times, like a lot of people, you just tend to buy something based on the sales page without delving into the terms, which are usually all similar.

I would suggest you make it clear on the pricing page that the addons are subject to yearly renewals. But I suspect not nearly as many people would actually buy if they knew that – so I doubt you will make the change. (Would love to see you prove me wrong).

I am sure you have some users who are ok with this. And many others who are not happy to find out in a year they need to fork over more $ to ensure their site remains functional.

Your lack of transparency is my main problem. But like I say, if I am wrong about your intentions, I am sure I will see your pricing page change to include the fact the addons are subject to yearly renewal fees.

Since we’re not in the business of deceiving people, I’ve done as you suggest. As I note above, no site will suddenly “stop working” because someone has failed to pay for the updates. I hope I’ve cleared up that misconception.

Ok as to the “misconception” that the site will stop working, I think you are being a bit dishonest as to the actual point of the comment. But let me clarify: if you do not pay an annual renewal fee for each addon you purchase, the actual addons may stop working. Not necesarily the entire site.

But seriously, if you spend hours and hours developing a site incorporating extra addons that you purchase – and they eventually stop functioning – in essence your site is no longer working as you intended. ok?

But since you have said you will make it clear that your addons are subscription based and subject to yearly renewal fees – everything is good. People will now at least be aware of the real costs, and can make their decisions accordingly. Can’t ask for any more than that. Well done and good luck.
