• I recently updated my blog to 2.5.1 without any apparent problems. The next day, readers started alerting me that their IE7 can’t load my pages. I have no problems with FireFox or Safari so I didn’t catch this right away. I have since rolled back to 2.5 but the problem still exists for IE7. Any suggestions? I need to get this fixed fast before my fickle readers start drifting away.

  • Try changing your theme to the default or classic, and see if IE7 works for a second.
I would suspect its the theme causing issue with html standards.

Still no luck, it begins to load and then an error message pops up saying that IE can’t open the site and then aborts. It does manage to load the header and top menus before crashing.

I checked out the Validator but the funny thing is, everything works and looks great in FireFox and Safari and I didn’t change any content or plug-ins after moving to 2.5.1 and it loaded just fine in IE7 before the update. I’m pretty sure the 2.5.1 changed something that brought on this problem and obviously the rollback to 2.5 didn’t fix it. I readily admit I don’t know anything about code, which is why I’m a photographer.

Try changing your theme for a few seconds to the Default or Classic one which comes with wordpress and see if they problem persists, at least then you can elimiate the theme completely from the problem if it doesnt work.

Well last attempt to figure this out for me today, nearly my bed time.
jeffrev01 – it looks like IE7 is trying to load an activex control and when it hits that it stops and fails to load.

I cant see what exactly might be the problem but just a hunch, its those hit counters at the bottom of the page or something I cant spot which is an activex control which IE7 (being ie) stops loading.

You will need to review your template to see what it is, it might be something in your sidebar or footer. I tried second, third and fourth page of your blog and each one has same problem so most likely something in the header, footer or sidebar but not the posts themselves.
