my impressions of Origin

Note: This is an edited review.
After trying for several days to get Origin to work with a child theme and being unsuccessful, I saw a review from beduicom (from about 11 months ago) stating the theme wasn’t really free because the child theme cost money. AlienWP says the theme is “child-theme friendly” and “free to download and use.” However, if you click on the child theme zip file on their webpage, you are told you have to pay to subscribe to their site to get it.
Since then, I’ve learned the child theme can work without using their child theme, so it is indeed free. My apologies for saying otherwise earlier.
The theme looks lovely, and the help forums have solutions to various issues, such as having the full post content on the front page. Quite a few questions remain unanswered, but that seems to be true of basically every theme’s support group, so I can’t single this theme out for that.
The Customize menu was a little better than on most other themes. Changing the font was easy to do, or so it seemed at first; it turned into a bit of a headache because the font families didn’t want to refresh for a while. (I thought it was a cache issue but clearing my cache didn’t work. Not sure what was up with that.) The top header font always looks jagged and grainy, no matter which one I use. The tagline font is always good, though.
Link color in the sidebar doesn’t change when you update the link color in the Customize menu. Little things like that kept popping up, and I would have rather have seen these tweakable in Customize options instead of having to get into the CSS to fix them. Otherwise, a nice theme.
