• A programmer has sent me a set of zipped files that is supposed to replace my old archives into a new blog on a new server. But there’s no WXR file that the import function is asking me to upload. Any suggestions? There’s big news over here and I need my archives working…

  • Did the programmer send any kind of instructions for how to install the files? If not, I would ask for step-by-step instructions. What types of files do the zip archives contain? Are there database files includes?

A WXR file is a WordPress eXtended RSS file and it can be exported from WordPress blogs that have a Manage > Export option.

You might be able to follow the instructions on the following page to get your old blog to export a WXR. Do you still have access to the old blog?

Oh, and you should *definitely* make a backup of your new blog before trying to import anything!
