All directory themes and plugins will require a lot of work to get right and looking the way you want it – if your serious about a new potential business – you will want it to look unique.

I am not getting any benefit from my post – I am just trying to offer some advice that could save you not hours or days but months of lost time and work, believe me when I say, I have been there – without calling any other theme out – I spent 6 months trying to get a theme working as I wanted and eventually walked away.

About three years ago I started looking for a new directory theme, above I mentioned using one theme and 6 months later I switched to Geotheme – this did what I wanted but I didn’t like the overall feel, but it worked well for nearly 2 years, I then decided a few months ago to have a complete overhaul – I really wanted a plugin directory so I could design my own core site, I brought the top 3 plugins and couldn’t get any of them to work in just a simple way with my theme, the support on two was behind terrible..

The price paid for this plugin and the opportunity it can offer is amazing, I have used nearly every other directory theme, plugin and even tried building something myself, this includes – Geoplaces, Sabai, WordPress Directory, Directory Press etc etc…

This post is getting longer then I thought…

I heard about the new GD plugin – I waited for it to launch, the same night I downloaded the brand new plugin – To be honest I expected terrible things due to other plugins and themes, honestly it worked!

Let me correct that slightly, it worked as a core product, I did have several problems half of them from my side and half that were tiny bugs…

Also I will be honest and say I spent maybe a week, setting up the new site, and its been hard work, and I have had problems but…

In about 7 days I have transfered about 2,000 posts and 6,000 places into my new site – which is live using this plugin.

I have used the support site which is supported by 3 admins, most of my posts where answered in a few hours and all my problems and bugs have been acknowledged – 90% have been fixed by the new update today – the last two have been confirmed to be fixed by tomorrow.

I don’t really ever write comments but I felt that this product needed more of a review from someone that runs a commercial directory site.

To sum up… if your looking for a tool that will do the job then this is the only one on the market that worked for me, it WILL take time and commitment to setup properly, I would recommend buying the package so you have everything to start with, instead of buying things down the line…

As I said I know the complete headache of searching for months and months to find something which will run a simple directory.
