Comments keep getting turned off, post disappearing

I installed WP_Spamfree some time ago because we get a ton of unsolicited spam. It worked pretty well for awhile, but then I noticed that Commenting was getting turned off on all posts. I would turn Comments back on, but they would go off again in time. Then the body of posts started disappearing, so the post would still be tehre, with title, but no body. I deactivated the WP-Spamfree, but this problem is still going on. Anyone know what I can do? Thanks!
