    At the risk of overcomplicating things, how about having the option of throwing in CSS3 gradients too. Just by allowing you to paste in CSS from the Colorzilla gradient generator would be great.

    For more advanced customizations like this, you can simply install a custom CSS plugin and paste the CSS there. But as the plugin description states, things like the page background color are out-of-scope because they are fundamental to Twenty Fourteen’s design patterns.
