• Wasted 8 hrs taking backing up and restoring my wordpress site from one host to another only to find that it didn’t take a backup of the plugins, themes, images in the upload folder and much more even though I had the following options selected:

    Full Backup X
    Database backup
    Plugins folder X
    Themes folder X
    Uploads folder X
    Any folder inside X
    wp-content
    Safe Update X

Moreover, it broke the wp-admin page because the database backup was invalid/corrupted.

I would have lost everything if I wasn’t able to access the old host and manually backup the database via phpmyadmin and the wordpress files via ftp.

I would discourage anyone from installing this plugins unless they want to put their blog at risk and take useless backups.

One final note, there are other backup plugins that DO allow backing up to dropbox and remote ftp servers for free without shelling out about $30 per website and you can be damn sure I will be installing those instead.

Good afternoon, thanks for the review.

    1. You have to choose either full backup or only the database (and optionally folders, such as plugins and themes).

    2. The plugin has a ‘safe update’ option enabled by default, when it enabled, the plugin could not break your database and if it is disabled, then you will have broken all his fault.
Before restoring the database goes through many stages of checks and warnings, maybe you ignored them?

    3. Contact us with the URL of your website. I’ll try to check what’s can be wrong.

    Thanks for responding.

You are right, I selected the Full not database (There was a typo).

Yes I did choose ‘safe update’ which I included above.

I didn’t “ignore” any of the checks or warnings, don’t assume negligence on my part. Been working in the tech field long enough to know what what I am doing, however when the tool doesn’t do as requested there is not much the user can do.

Then, I think you found a bug, which we could miss.

Please could you give us some information: PHP version, server software (like OS, web-server and other), plugin and wordpress version?

We need to check the plugin in similar conditions, and we’ll try to fix errors and omissions.
