• I have been looking at all the advice around to speed up page load time which was disastrous, nearly 10 seconds, by all sorts of means including caching and code compression etc. This has consumed hours of wasted time with little effect.
One of the major cache managers kept breaking my WordPress code (with its code compression), and minify and like actually slowed things down.
So I was ecstatic when P3 – Plugin Performance Profiler found the real offenders.
The main culprit was W3 Total Cache adding 4 seconds to load time. By contrast Yoast SEO manager only added 0.2 seconds to load time.
The next big culprit was NextGen Gallery add-on accounting for 3.5 seconds even though it was not being used in pages and contained no media.
The remaining significant time user is Jetpack (1.8 seconds) exceeding all other plugins by 1.4 seconds but it does a lot of work and I can live with that.
Now I have load time down to 2.5 seconds but cache now also reduces that to acceptable levels but still can be optimized

    A real mind lapse here.
This “The main culprit was W3 Total Cache adding 4 seconds to load time.”
should read “The main culprit was All in One SEO Pack adding 4 seconds to load time. ”
