Works great, but could use some improvement and support

  • I’ve been using mingle for about two years now. It’s easy to set up, and easy to use. I don’t think it’s being seriously supported much any more, though I do occasionally get an update.

    My only complaint is the comment windows. Users don’t have a Preview, and they can’t easily make they’re comments look nicer with HTML buttons. IS this because of security that html is not included?

    Anyway, it is a great plugin if you want forums. I’ve not had anything break. I did have a conflict with Jetpack, and had to remove Jetpack and use a different stats plugin.

    I do recommend Mingle, and hope the developer continues to develop it and add features.

    Thanks for the review. You’ll note that 1.1.0 is around the corner with some big changes coming. 1.1.0 won’t have too many feature or functionality changes as its focus is purely code and style enhancements, but 1.1.1 and up is where we will really start getting into enhancing features, getting a WYSIWYG editor and preview is on our list, and allowing HTML as well.

    HTML is a security risk, but WordPress has some good filters we can use to ensure it’s not vulnerable.

    The Jetpack conflict was fixed in 1.0.34 so you should be able to use it again.

    Thank you for letting me know about the upcoming updates. I’m thrilled you are still supporting this plugin!

    I decided to drop Jetpack as I don’t care for the set up. I’m using google analytical and another stats plugin. But good to know the conflict is resolved with Jetpack!
