Basic header function doesn't work

I love the look and functionality included with this theme, but I could never get the basic header image to look right. It was always stretched or squashed or had tons of margin around it. I read every tutorial and post thread and tried to get it work in dozens of different ways. Just wasted three hours trying to get it to work because I wanted to use the other functionality. Now I’ve got to go and look for another theme.
