Not cropping featured image

  • Setting the featured image, cropping it to NOT show a square but a wide thumb instead. Nothing happens.

    No matter what I do, a featured image will always show a square cropped thumb.

    Crop Thumbnails plugin doesn’t seem to do anything. Maybe I misunderstand what this plugin is supposed to be doing but it seems very obvious.

  • The plugin only works for image sizes that are set with hard crop mode (for details, read this). Those sizes are defined in your theme.

    If you’re using a custom theme, you can add thumbnail sizes in the functions.php file. If you’re using a pre-built theme, look for a plugin that allows you to add thumbnail sizes (like this one, which I have not tested).

    I think I have the same issue with getting to know what this plugin do. When I croped the images by clicking ‘Save Crop’ nothing happened. The featured image was still the same

    I resolved my issue by setting the image sizes in general > media or something. Plugin could be fine but I’m not using it at the moment.
