Require all comments to be moderated

  • I’m trying to set up a site where every comment must be manually approved before it appears. In the settings I’ve enabled the box labeled “Before a comment appears > comment must be manually approved”, but already someone posted a comment that was approved automatically. As far as I can tell, if the contributor of a post comments on their own post it is automatically approved. Is this the intended behavior? Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

    That doesn’t sound right. Do they have a previous comment approved? Does it happen if all plugins are deactivated?

    Yes they had a previous comment approved, but I unchecked that setting; all comments must always be manually approved.

    It hasn’t happened again, but if it does I will try disabling plugins.
