Removing the footer

Hello everyone, i have a quick question about the footer…

When i was editing my website i realised that i wanted the footer gone. Someone suggested that i should remove all the code in the Appearance>Editor tab which i did and now the footer is gone, it does seem that other assets got displaced because of it. Is there anybody who knows what i can do? I am completely unfamiliar with code so this is very frustrating! Argh!
