Athena homepage slider – jumbotron – vanished!

  • Apologies for this seemingly duplicate post – – but I wanted to change the TITLE of my previous post but couldn’t see a way to do that – – thus, a new post with a more descriptive title.

    Our Athena theme site’s homepage slider (FREE version) is GONE. Is this slider in the free version the same as what is referred to as the Jumbotron?

    As you can see, there are no more sliders above the green area, and several elements on the homepage are overlapping and totally messed up. The green “callout” boxes used to link to their respective pages and now those links do not work. I cannot fathom what went wrong.

    Should we switch to another theme, such as twenty fifteen, delete this copy of Athena and install a fresh one? I’m unsure whether that might help or make things even worse.

    I hope someone from SmartCat may visit this page soon!

    Images on my home screen and featured images just stopped displaying.

    @smartcat My Jumbotron images, my featured images and my widgets have all stopped working.
    Also the overlay widget on the jumbotron has stopped working.

    I now get this message, when before I got footer widget options:

    There are no widget areas currently rendered in the preview. Navigate in the preview to a template that makes use of a widget area in order to access its widgets here.

    The images shouldn’t disappear. if they do, that means there’s probably an error preventing the jumbotron from loading. Check your console log for errors, and de-activate any plugins that are causing the issue

    I only installed the recommended plugins from Smartcat. I deactivated all and it still seems to be broken. I am getting the following error messages, but I am not getting any PHP errors. I don’t mind reinstalling the theme but as it is paid for and the license has an expiry I am afraid I will not be able to reinstall it.

    It looks like it was the Smartcat “Our Services” plugin that effected the system.

    I’m not sure what it took a while but that seems to be what is effecting the images and site functionality.

    Issue resolved:

    I installed the “Services Showcase” plugin and it caused issues with the Jumbotron. Once removed, Jumbotron worked as normal.

    I just found this post in response to the same issue faced today. Can the developers advise when they will resolve the conflict between their products?
