Getting crazy views for number of visitors all of a sudden

they’re probably views from bots and crawlers, nothing to be alarmed about. if they’re all from the same ip address then you’ve got a bit of a problem and something or someone might be trying to hack your site. some countries are hotspots for hacking and you should do a little reading up on them to find out which ones are the warning ones to see in the list. also, install wordfence if you haven’t already, it’s bloody good at blocking most things.

as for the quality of support, this forum is manned (and womanned) by volunteers and the sheer volume of requests for help means that sometimes a request can slip by unnoticed or because it’s been addressed elsewhere on the forum no-one feels a burning urge to leap in to the rescue.

if your site’s performance or security isn’t compromised then you’ve likely got nothing to worry about. if the numbers go up significantly and they’re from hacking hotspots and ip addresses that are suspicious then you could run into issues with your hosting as your site could start to use too many resources if it’s on shared hosting and that could push you over the terms and conditions agreement with your hosts.

It doesn’t seem to be affected performance as far as I can tell. I went ahead and installed wordfence as suggested.

I understand that the forum is staffed by volunteers and I do appreciate the help. It just can be frustrating when you can’t find a fix or an answer to an issue. Especially since this is just a hobby and I only know the basics of WordPress and web design in general. I searched before posting and didn’t see anything that matched exactly what I had going on, so I posted.
