Comments not being synced

  • Starting a couple of days ago this great plugin doesn’t seem to work anymore.

    Comments are no longer being synced into the WordPress database nor being embedded into the comments box in the post admin.

    If I deactivate the plugin and revert to the WordPress comment system, there are no comments to be seen.

    Has something changed in the last couple of days?

    actually i have the same problem. it happened before when i started to use the plugin but i manage to fix it with the right fb developer api, but now i see there is a comment under a post, i’ve already confirmed if i wouldn’t have to do this with previous comment and nothing happens:
    it does not show i “comments” in admin page
    does not show in recent comments widget
    and is not showing in author of the comment facebook profile.

    it would be great if anyone could find a solution to all above. tired alternative plugins before and this was best of them till now.

    so what did you have to update to at least get it to recognize facebook comments again?

    You change the Facebook API request url?

    I had to make the API public (whatever it means) – you should find that option in one of the tabs, but like I say: it worked before, but problem that we are facing now lies somewhere else.

    Ok, it sounds like you are having the same issues as us now that I re-read your post.

    Yes, comments still show in the plugin, but all the syncing is broken.

    I started a GitHub commit. I made changes to update the Facebook Graph API calls, but still not working:

    Actually, turns out that fix is working. But the Sync All option in the Admin panel is not working. Not sure where that function is.

    You can tell it’s working when you add a new comment on a page, it will get them all added and sync’d.

    It does not sync for me either.

    Any plans on updating this plugin?

    I updated the code on GitHub to make it sync properly on new comments. But the admin sync function is still broken. If I have time tonight I’m going to take another crack at it.

    I tried your code and it seems to be working on some degree.
    If a post has only facebook comments it displays the correct count, if it has default wordpress comments too then it displays only the count for the wordpress comments.

    Also, in the recent comments the facebook comments are not appearing.

    Ahh, yes, I updated with the assumption that they were using the plugin to replace WordPress entirely, so only changed the part where it uses the facebook API and syncs it over (at time of comment). It might not be paying attention properly to both ends any longer.

    I also wish they’d just update this plugin since a better understanding. I’m sure the author could have everything working again in 15 minutes. I have to read and see what he’s doing before I dare touch it.

    Yes even for me the Real time comment update does not work! I did try the Github updated file but still no benefit..

    @casbboy I just tested your patch downloaded from github on my production site (wordpress 3.4.2 , PHP 5.4) .

    Comments sync NOT working (im refering the realtime FB comment sync, not the one from the Admin panel)
