Gift Aid

Just wondering if anything had changed with this and there is now an addon for Gift Aid for this plugin?

Not yet. I’ll be totally transparent on this. There are three things that are slowing this for us:

1) We only want to release something REALLY good
2) We’re Americans, just learning the ins and outs of the UK Gift Aid system
3) We’ve got A LOT of development going on.

MORE DETAIL:
1) We can easily release an Addon that simply adds the checkbox on the form, but we want to do more than that for our nonprofits. We want to make sure that you get reports on all Gift Aid donations and that those reports are provided in a way that makes it very easy for you to submit the necessary info to the government for reimbursement.

2) We are reaching out to some UK developers for guidance on this, but so far that collaboration has been pretty slow. We lean on them for insight and expertise so that we do this right.

3) Since launching Give, we’ve seen incredible growth. We’re working hard to keep up with the demand for everything we offer already and all the additional things our users continue to request of us. We hired two full-time developers in 2016 and hope to hire at least 2 more this year. That will help a lot.

I know it’s an unsatisfying answer, but it’s where we’re at and I want to be straight-forward about that with you. Thanks for your patience.

First off, thanks for your prompt response and secondly, no worries and it’s not an unsatisfying answer at all.

I totally understand that because Gift Aid is a UK thing, it must be a tricky one for other countries to get their heads around – it’s complicated enough on this side of the pond, let me tell you! ?? And I really appreciate that if you’re going to include it, it needs to be right and not just a tick box like you say. I’d rather it’s actually working properly and getting the charities their correct monies or it simply defeats the object.

I’m brand new to Give and have just added it to a non-profit website. It’s all worked as it should and was pretty straightforward even for a bit of a newbie like myself, so I’m impressed!

Thanks again for coming back to me and congrats on what you do and how you’re growing. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that you’ll be able to come up with something in the near future.
