Syntax error in additional headers and To: field

    Hi there,

    I installed the newest version of CF7 on WP 4.5.3 – I’m formatting my contact form and somehow I’m told that the field contains a syntax error when using the following tag in the additional headers section;
    Reply-To: [your-email]

    Setting up the second mail, to send a copy to the form user, also in the To: field, the same syntax error is shown.

    It still works, so there is not much of a problem going on. Wanted to let you know I find this error, even though it’s set up the way your documentation describes. In case I need to change anything in the formatting, please advice me! ??

  • Make sure [your-email] is an email field and not a text field. Also, make sure it is required.

    [email* your-email]

    I have exactly the same syntax but don’t have any problem.

    LESIMOON, Thnx for helping me out!

    The first thing you point out wasn’t the problem. I had the field as an email field, the field generator works this out perfectly fine.

    The other thing you point out, that was the trick! I left out the * for this field. Since the contact form is used on a lawyer site, I thought not all users would have an email address (or access to one). That’s why I left out the * for the email field.

    With adding this * to the [email your-email], the syntax error is indeed gone.

    Actually, its pretty fair that the form checks this setting. ??

    Maybe I can suggest Takayuki Miyoshi to include this solution in the documentation. The reference link which comes with the error isn’t explaining this check anywhere.
