  • I am having the same issue.

I got the same error after upgrading the PressForward plugin. It crashed my site. I went to cpanel and file manager and deleted pressforward from the plugins subdirectory. Up and running. Is there a way to access the last version of the pressforward plugin while this is sorted out? Thanks

Must not be a lot of people upgrading to 4.01. does Pressforward monitor this forum?

I’ve had the same problem, with no access to my website after I updated the PressFoward plugin. I deleted the plugin and now all ok. I’m not downloading the plugin again until I know the problem has been fixed. I can’t see any reference to the problem at Pressforward, though I note the latest plugin version is 4.0.2. Not sure if that means it’s fixed??

@stephendale no I don’t think 4.02 solved the problem. I deleted 4.01, downloaded 4.02, tried to activate it and got the same warning about fatal error. The good news is it doesn’t crash the site because wordpress won’t let it load. I have seen no comment by PressForward about this problem. I think it’s been several weeks already. I can only assume they don’t have a lot of users actively using the plugin.

@nubchai – thanks for the info. Not impressed by PressFoward’s customer relations. They don’t deserve to have many active users!

Hi, this should be resolved with 4.0.3, please update and tell us if it is resolved.

The issue is with some server configurations.

Here’s what I get when I attempt to activate this newest update, 4.0.3:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’, expecting :: (T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM) in /home/REDACTED/public_html/wp-content/plugins/pressforward/Libraries/PFOpenGraph.php on line 56

Aram, please let me know if I can assist in the troubleshooting.

Hi Ken, thanks for the offer, but I think we have determined the issue.

4.0.3 revealed a further issue on some machines. Servers running PHP 5.4, which is technically depreciated, see: https://php.net/supported-versions.php, are parsing some of the code in an unexpected way. We altered the code to maintain backwards compatibility and the issue should now be resolved. The patch for this (4.0.4) is being uploaded as we speak and should be available for all within 30 minutes.

lol…. while there is indeed no error message upon applying this update – there is also now no trace of the plugin in the admin panel!

It is visible in the plugins folder using ftp/file manager, but WordPress doesn’t see it at all.

    hmmmm.

Ken is your last comment regarding the 4.04 version? I’ll hold off on installing, if so.

    Thanks!

There was an upload error that hit some but not all WP configurations, now resolved with 4.0.5

Nubchai – yes, it disappeared after updating. Aram, it’s currently not showing in my installed plugins (admin panel), but IS showing as installed when looking the plugin up. (as if installing a new plugin).

I’m going to have to go in via FTP and delete the plugin and reinstall. I’ll do that after lunch and let you know how it goes. ??

SUCCESS! After deleting plugin folder and reinstalling/activating, it looks like there are no errors.

    Thanks Aram!
