• Hi,

    I am in the process of migrating a wp site to a new server as well as changing the domain name.

    I have copied the files across to the new server as well as the database.

    Using phpMyAdmin i have changed siteurl & home to the new domain name.

    Pointed my new domain to my new server.

    Now when I go to my new domain it still redirects me to my old domain.

    if I try logging in by domain.com.au/wp-login.php it allows me to but I can’t access the backend. The top bar appears but without many clickable options.

    I have also tried adding the below to my wp-config.php then logged into the backend.
    define('RELOCATE',true);

    But nothing.

    Any ideas, i haven’t come across this before.

  • A few things:

    1) Did you change hosting vendors? And if so, did you go to your domain registrar and change to the new DNS server addresses?

    2) Read this on how to move an existing WordPress site to another domain name:
    Moving WordPress

    3) You may need to do a 301 Redirect on all the URLs in your older domain name to point to the URLs in your new domain. If you don’t, you may get hit with a Google duplicate content penalty.
