Use of mbstring is now deprecated

When installing WP Pipes, the requirement of mbstring being active made me do some research. It’s recommended for anyone using PHP 5.3 or later, to NOT use mbstring, as this product requires. Is there any way for you to work around that need, and to NOT use mbstring, while still making WP Pipes work?
