I do not see an issue with the category feed. Which episode(s) are having the issue? When you manually subscribe to this feed in the iTunes desktop app, do you see the same issue?

I did find one episode in your feed “KBKabaret Week Ten Podcast” that has no duration. It is a video rather than an audio eposode so I wonder if it was added before you had PowerPress installed.

    Post: https://www.kbkabaret.com/podcast/kbkabaret-week-ten-podcast/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss

I would redit this post, click the modify option in the Episdoe box, then click verify. IF it detects the duration (it usually does for mp4 video) then click update to save the new value. If it does not detect the duration, please enter it manually then click ‘update’ to save the post.

Yes the posts show the duration, but the feed does not show the duration if you click on the media link. At least on a mac i am not seeing duration when I use the link in the feed. I clicked on the media link in Whole show 46. https://www.kbkabaret.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Wholeshow46radio.mp3

The media folder does show duration:
    File name: Wholeshow46radio.mp3
    File type: audio/mpeg
    Uploaded on: July 30, 2016
    File size: 32 MB
    Length: 55:13
    Bitrate: 80kb/s CBR

    Moira,

The media folder is referring to the meta data that your computer has, not the WordPress website. I believe the meta data in your WordPress website for this particular episode in question is simply not filled out.

Please confirm that the duration is set by editing the episode, checking the modify box and viewing the duration field. If it is empty (as I suspect) click the verify button to see if it populates the duration.

If you are already signed into your site, go to this page, then click edit at the top to quickly edit the blog post in question. https://www.kbkabaret.com/podcast/kbkabaret-week-ten-podcast/

The duration is filled in on the posts page – I always made sure it was there. But I had not chosen the radio button “Specify” I have now done that and hope it will be the solution. Thx

When I “Verify” that episode it sets the duration to 0:00:00. It may be that the headers are using more than 4MB of storage in the headers of the mp4. This means you have to use the “specify” option for the duration for this video.

I still do not see the change in the feed. After you selected the duration specify option, did click update to save the blog post? If you do not click update anything you select or enter will not be saved.

Yes I clicked Update – but the change does not hold. I rechecked and the change had returned to Autodetect. We are using MP3s.

Moira, we are not talking about the same episode.

When I view your podcast on the podcast iOS app the only episode that does not display the duration is “KBKabaret Week Ten Podcast”.

I am looking at feed https://www.kbkabaret.com/category/podcast/feed/. Please confirm this is the feed you speak of?

I followed up with castfeedvaldator.com and found only one episode, titled “KBKabaret Week Ten Podcast” that does not have the duration information set. The media file for this episode is https://www.kbkabaret.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/whole-show-10-for-podcast-version-B.mp4 (video)

    CastFeed Validator: https://castfeedvalidator.com/?url=https://www.kbkabaret.com/category/podcast/feed/

Media file Wholeshow46radio.mp3 goes to episode title “BKabaret Week Forty Six Podcast” and is displaying the correct duration. If you are having an issue with this episode, unsubscribe and delete your subscription then re-subscribe. As viewed on iTunes via the podcast iOS app the duration is displayed for this episode.

To fix episode week ten (not the latest episode), please follow these directions:

    1. Sign into your WordPress website.
    2. Go to this URL: https://www.kbkabaret.com/podcast/kbkabaret-week-ten-podcast/
    3. Within the black bar across the top, click the option labeled “Edit Post”
    4. Scroll down to the box titled “Podcast Episode (default)”
    5. Check the “Modify” box.
    6. For the “Duration” field, select “Specify” then proceed to enter the duration in the provided HH:MM:SS boxes.
    7. Scroll back to the top of this page and click ‘Update’.

If you are still having problems, please email me at cio [at] blubrry dot com, we will schedule a Gotomeeting session to go over this to see what the problem is.

Yes https://www.kbkabaret.com/category/podcast/feed/ is the feed and I see it in the tool you used to verify the feed that the duration seems to be there.

But we are having problems with the podcast duration being passed in the feed to the App at AppyPie. They say they do not get the duration in the feed. Even after I set Specify – they did not get the duration.

I also do not see duration, it when I play the MP3 in iTunes on my machine.

BTW I have fixed Week 10 as suggested. Thank you

It may be a problem with the AppyPie at this point. I would contact them and let them know the duration information is there, reference castfeedvaliadtor.com URL above as well as that it is displaying on iTunes.
