Install Issue (?step=2 appended to URLs)

you already defined the problem:

it seems that it’s looking for everything with ?step=2

if this was a successful install, you will need to change your home and site url values to fix that.

This was happening to me also… and I installed several times. While the OPs problem with accessing his site may be resolved (just as I resolved mine), I’d like to know if anyone is working on the install routine that put the incorrect URL into the database in the first place.

You might search in trac to see if that’s been reported.

Reporting Bugs

I am going to risk sounding like a total newbie. How do I go about changing my site and home url values. I have tried a little digging in the codex but can’t find a direct explanation.

I had this same problem and I sorted it using the instructions at https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/

I went thru https://admin.server-mysql.com/phpmyadmin/

@whooami – THANK YOU!! I upgraded one blog to 2.6 last month. Yesterday I started a new blog on a new domain, and have spent about 8 hours just trying to log into the darn thing. Changed the url’s in the database tables, and voila.
