Hey there! Thanx for the excellent plugin once again! I have a specific need to replace the thumbnails on top of the dynamic slider with short words from a custom field of the displayed slides. To make sure – not in the description bar (that’s simply done) – I mean, the thumbnails. So that the corresponding word is highlighted, when its slide is displayed and fades out then.
I don’t see a standard option for this (title and description only), so I’d rather change the php, but I just can’t find the right file, where to do it. Could you, please, help me with this? Thanks!

    Hi @alexdolgopolskiy

You could put the content of the custom field you would like to display to the title or the description field of the slide and show that using the thumbnails, which would be pretty easy. (Like this: https://imgur.com/a/Bzg0a and then just turn on the Title: https://imgur.com/a/OUbtY )

But if that doesn’t work for you, you can find the thumbnail settings in this file: \wp-content\plugins\smart-slider3\library\smartslider\plugins\widgetthumbnail\default\default.php
Although I have doubts about the possibility of this and our senior developer is out of the office and he won’t be available until Monday, so if you would get stuck please contact us via email: [email protected] so he could help you personally. In your e-mail, please refer to this topic!

    Hi Ramona!

Thanks a lot once again!! Yes, just turning on title/description would be easy, but I need to keep them the way they are, while I would like the “tabs” to be one-word-short, not to break the layout. So, I’ll try replacing the “title” with an ACF in the .php file and then will turn the “title” on. I’ll keep this thread updated. Thanks!

    Hi Alex ( @alexdolgopolskiy )

Could you please create a quick sketch on what are you trying to achieve where neither the title nor the description field won’t work for you? Please send the sketch to our e-mail address: [email protected]

Because this seems like it could be done easily using the description field somehow like this: https://imgur.com/a/AgssY
and the content of the ACF field could be styled and moved via CSS.

Ha-ha! Sorry, stupid me. I thought, placing the slide title/description into the thumbnail meant placing the post title/excerpt there )) Didn’t figure out the truth, before looking into the default.php code. This solves it, I guess. Very convenient. Thanks!
The only thing needed is hiding the thumbnail image – but this should be easily done with css or otherwise, I bet. Will update it here after having everything done. Thanks!

Yes, I’m trying to make it the same, as here: https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/
And I’m on my way now ))
