Parsing Error – Unexpected Syntax Error at WP Login

  • Hi all,

    Had a reported error today with our site. When I went to login as an Admin, I received the following error at point of login (some of the URL deliberately masked).

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/xxxxx/wp-content/plugins/mstw-league-manager/includes/mstw-lm-update-records-class.php on line 572

    Does this imply that we’ve got a corrupt database and/or an issue with the League Manager Plug-In ? If so, I could remove the plug-in but I can’t even progress past the login page as I get the above error thrown as soon as I enter my username/password. Any advice on how to move forward with accessing the home portal so I can trouble-shoot would be GREATLY appreciated as I’m dead in the water right now. Thanks in advance !

    Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
