• Basically, I want to set up a blog where I am able to control everything (such as the design, posts, etc) with other users who can make new posts but nothing else. Is there a way to create an account on the blog that can only make new posts (and leave comments)?

  • I think WP does not support that option (without any customization / additional plugins)

May be give a try on

    https://nucleuscms.org

    or

    https://b2evolution.net

Both support multiple users / blogs.

Or you need customization of WP for the requirement ?

Of course, it depends on the role you give each user.

    More about roles here.

Thanks crazydin. Unfortunately, none of the “roles” allow that person to post but nothing more, and as far as I can tell, you can’t create your own roles. I’ve been searching for plug-ins but have not found one suitable. If anyone knows of one, please let me know.

Get the rolemanager plugin – it lets you edit each role’s capabilities. Then you can go in wordpress to Settings > General and set New User Default Role to whatever you want.

See my blog, this is exactly what I’ve done:

    Hope that helps

if you want people to make new posts and literally NOTHING else… then consider the TDO Mini Forms plugin, which lets you provide a posting page on your front-end for users.

They can create posts which you can (optionally) approve prior to them being displayed.
