SSL23 ERROR Unknow

  • Hi,
    When we use an Hosting with SSL Certificat genereted by Lets Encrypt like OVH Hosting, we meet an Error when execute Backup Job.
    If we switch on unsecured protocol in WordPresse->General-> Root URL, All is fine.

    So, perhaps you have a bug with LetsEncrypt Root authority.

    BackWPup has no problems with LetsEncrypt. It can be only that the server or WordPress has a old root certificates file for use with curl.

    I have tried the solution you propose, like install the plugin backwpup-disable-ssl-verify or comment lines in the file class-page-jobs.php but it’s not working…
    I also regenerate the SSL Certificat.

    I use WordPress 4.5.2 and 4.6, it’s the same problem.
    Sadly, your solution is not working.
    My hoster is OVH with Lets Encrypt (the same configuration like julienstien).
    cURL version: 7.21.0
    cURL SSL version: OpenSSL/0.9.8o

    It appears the backup work correctly with the CRON, it’s only when i launch a backup manualy that’s didn’t work.

    did you have tested the plugin i sugest above. That is an other that you alredy tesetd.

    Same problem.
    I talked to OVH support.
    SSL is only on frontend, webserver 443 is not secured from local server.
    We may have to change protocol when connecting from local server.

    I have the same problem, and Daniel’s plugin doesn’t change anything.
    The scheduled backup via a cron job works fine, but the “run now” issues an error, that same:

    Server self connect:	Not expected HTTP response:
   WP Http Error: error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol

    Have you guys found a solution?
    My host is OVH as well (Perso 2014). I have read that they disabled SSLv3 and one must use TLS >= 1.0.
    Does that help?

    The backup works fine with the cron but it doesn’t work when i launch a backup manually.
    So it’s workable for me.

    I am also at ovh.
    At home nothing works (not the CRON or manually)
    I installed the extension you advise but it changes nothing.
    What to do please?
