• I finally got WordPress to sort of work properly, and finally got the Comic theme installed. And then, when I went to the Settings option to change the ‘WordPress Blog’ type on the main page, pressing ‘save’ at the bottom of the page broke the entire page.

    Literally.

No images, pre 1993 web format style, everything. I can’t log in because suddenly the wp-admin file can’t be accessed. For not apparent reason that I can find.

So, outside of following simple instructions provided by this web site for installation, and using the software properly, where did I go wrong, and how do I fix it?

  • If you give a link to your website it will make figuring out the problem much easier. From the way it sounds though you edited the wordpress url or blog url, by mistake. These are some instructions for changing the url back.

Probably the easiest way to change it would be through the wp-config file.

Why would you go in and make a change like that? It’s not even a BLOG TYPE. It’s setting the path to WP and to the site URI, which normally are fine just the way they are. I mean, it was working before YOU DID THAT. So who’s fault is that? Changing something, not knowing why or if you should change it.. just boggles the mind.

Coming on here and trashing the application, which millions have downloaded, and presumably at least a quarter of them have gotten it to run properly without stupidly changing settings willy nilly, isn’t gonna win you much help.
