editor adds ? between words

  • When pasting text from Notepad into the wordpress editor all spaces are being converted to $nbsp;

    So ‘the quick brown fox..’

    becomes

    ‘the&nbspquick&nbspbrown&nbspfox..’

    Is the editor broken?
