• WordPress daily build 2004-07-24
    PHP 5.0
    mySQL 4.0.20
    Apache 2.0
    Windows 2000
I had a problem installing Mingus, due to having PHP 5.0, so I am trying to install the latest build, which is said to work with PHP 5.0. After going through the install, I click on the link to login, and I get an error saying that “Apache.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.” After closing that popup, I get an alert stating, “The document contains no data.” I have tried every proposed solution for login problems to no avail.

  • This sounds like an apache error.
I’ve certainly never seen such an error, both installing remotely and locally many times.
Which LAMP / WAmP setup are you using ?
I’ve had no issues with Xampp – https://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html

podz: What the heck is LAMP / WAMP? I’ve never heard of it. I set everything up separately (Apache, mySQL, PHP). I’m not sure how this would be an Apache error. I’ve gotten everything else to work just fine. I’ve installed other CMSs with no problems.
allusion: Yes, that pretty well describes the problem, except that I am running Apache 2.0 without SSL. Also, I don’t think I would call a segfault a “quirk.”

    Linux Apache Mysql PHP
    Windows .. .. ..
Basically (in the case of xampp), I download, install, and I’ve got effectively a server setup. I have two wordpress installs running, a gallery program (to be junked later) and I can also play with php too.
It’s not open to the net (my choice), but it behaves just as if I have uploaded files to a remote server.
Makes creating new CSS layouts a breeze, and for playing with other files without the hassle of ftp.

I have the exact same setup (minus Perl), except that I installed each program individually. Mine is also not open to the net. I set it up so that I could play with CMSs and databases without having to get online. I have a dial-up connection, so anything I can do locally is a big help.

I am having this exact same problem. I am runing the latest build of WordPress to work with PHP5, and I have the latest Apache webserver running. This is on my Win2k machine.
Did anyone find a solution to this problem?

I say you find 1.3alpha-2 and install it on your php5 box. works excellently for me!

    1.3alpha-2 also didnt work.
I just want to point out that sometimes, on my website, my WP 1.01 kills the Apache server after I have posted something, and this is on a RH Linux box.
Maybe this should be looked into?
