I tested my website recently and noticed that when I stopped my payment, the order will automatically index to a new order (e.g., 481) and cancel the unsuccessful order (e.g., 480). Is WooCommerce’s structured process flow?

Is there any way to stop the order from indexing, even if the payment is halted? It’ll be unpleasant to see many cancelled orders if customers were to halt their payments.

    Please advise. Thank you.

    Hey Jason,

Yes, that is intended behavior. An order is created as soon as a customer presses the Proceed to payment button, and it will need a way to log what happens after that button click. Otherwise, you might end up missing certain orders. It also helps with determining if your website is working correctly.

Also, if you’re seeing a lot of cancelled orders, it might be a good idea to investigate exactly why your customers are cancelling their orders. It will help you sell more in the end.

    Hope that helps!

Thank you, Ines. This clears up any confusion that I may have about the workings of WooCommerce. And thank you for the advice. Very much appreciated.
