Is it safe to say when building a website with pages (Ex. Home, About, Contact, Links)
Instaed of making them pages… We should be making them catagories?

So that it is easier to place posts in certain areas of a website?

no, you should be using pages for things like that.

Thank You Sterndata. But I seem to have an issue when I try to place certain posts to certain pages. They always end up on my posts page only.
I would like to place different posts to different pages.

You don’t “place posts on pages”, you just use pages.

Things like “about”, “contact” are not posts, they’re pages.

I didn’t say “about” and “contact” were posts…

I said how do I place posts to different pages.

Example: I have posts about me that I only want on the About me page.
And I have Storys about links… (posts) that I only want on the Links page.

OK, then you’d use categories to categorize your posts and use a category link in the menu (e.g., /categories/about). If you don’t see the “categories” widget on the left on appearance->menus, click “screen options” at the top right and check the “categories” box.

I did what you said. I gave my posts catagories.

So instead of having a pages menu at the top…
I need to have a catagories menu at the top?

Since I can not direct any posts to any pages…

Your sayin I need to direct posts to catagories.

And USE my Catagories as the menu…

    Yes.

And USE my Catagories as the menu…

Yes. Egg-zactly, as I described above.

Ok Thank you for your time!

I don’t mean to make this any more excruciating…
But thats what I asked about in the begining..

    So why use pages?

I am going to continue to use a plugin that is called “content views”, so I can place my posts to the pages I want to.

Also becuase I still want the begining content to include what is on my pages.

At least until I see a better way to do this.

I’m not sure what you mean by “safe”. Can you do it? Yes. Would I build a site this way? Not entirely.

I don’t think you entirely understand how WordPress works, but that’s OK. It comes over time and you can always re-do things later.

I wanted to know if you could put posts where you want them on pages. Like a static website works.

So the answer is… you can not put posts on any page except the posts page and or if you have the “content view” plug in.

This question is the most asked question but never seems to be answered in simple terms.

If I was to teach someone How to build a website I still wouldn’t be able to explain why this can’t be done.

Thank you for your help and time anyway. ??

If you want a “static” page, you make a page, not a post. I can’t make it more simple than that.

I want a website with pages.

    HOME ABOUT CONTACT LINKS

And when I post I want to place them on certain pages.

The only way I can see to do that is with the plug in.

You’re making it very confusing with your terminology, which is non-standard to WordPress.

I wanted to know if you could put posts where you want them on pages. Like a static website works.

The usage of ‘posts’ here is incorrect. You don’t put posts on pages, even with a static website. You just don’t. So I’m going to assume you mean something else.

Do you mean a link? That is a way for someone to click on a word and go to a post, category, or otherwise?

Do you mean a menu? That would mean the menu at the top of the page would change content based on context. So if I was on the about page I would see one menu, and if I was on a category page I would see another?

    Do you mean an image?

I’m very sorry to say that if you cannot help us understand what you mean by post, in the WordPress definition there of, we’re not going to be able to answer your question properly ??
