File Name Too Long to be Saved Correctly…?

    Hello+

    I am receiving an error/warning message: File Name Too long to be saved correctly…In TarGz archive! The “…” is actually the entire file name and path tree. I have tried the TarBz2 option as well and get the same warning.

    I would like to exclude the specific file, but I cannot simply put the one filetree-name in as there are many files with this end name in multiple paths. This is a Survey that over 2700 end-users have taken over multiple months.

    One of the actual file paths is: wp-content/uploads/2015/08/optional-help-us-help-you-would-you-like-to-request-a-new-list-this-does-not-guarantee-placement-on-list-but-if-you-successfully-introduce-us-to-a-publication-you-will-be-a-priority-recommendation-to-be-interviewed-1600.csv

    However, there are many more in other months from 2015 and 2016…

    I would like to exclude all csv files that have this name no matter what their file path is – could I do that simply by putting an * (or something) in front? example: */optional-help-us-help-you-would-you-like-to-request-a-new-list-this-does-not-guarantee-placement-on-list-but-if-you-successfully-introduce-us-to-a-publication-you-will-be-a-priority-recommendation-to-be-interviewed-1600.csv

    Is there a simple way to exclude all of these? Or should I upgrade to the Pro version?

  • The limiattation is in all tar archive formarts. bu zip can handele it.
    For Excluding you kann add /optional-help-us-help-you-would-you-like-to-request-a-new-list-this-does-not-guarantee-placement-on-list-but-if-you-successfully-introduce-us-to-a-publication-you-will-be-a-priority-recommendation-to-be-interviewed-1600.csv to the list. ( without the *)

    Thank you for your quick reply. I did try a version of that which had the “wp-content/uploads/2015/08/” part in front of the long file name – then I discovered that there were many more in other sections (i.e. 2015/09 through 2016/06). This prompted me to write you… I just want to clarify that you are saying I don’t need to add ANY of the file tree, but ONLY the too-long-name and it will exclude ALL instances of said file? (There are over 800…)

    You can add them to specify the file exactly but you don’t need it. if you would exclude all .csv Files you can only add the extension to the excludes list.

    Thank you for clarifying that. I have reviewed several of these too-long-file-names and discovered that each one has a unique part to its name. Thus I would not be able to simply put in the generic file name as none of them would be flagged – correct?
    They are all csv files, but there are other csv files that do need to back up; therefore, I cannot simply exclude all csv files.
    I’m wondering if the Pro version would be better equipped to handle these too-long-file-names? Or would it have a relatively easy way for me to exclude all of them (each with their unique number at the end of the general file name)?
    Please let me know your thoughts…

    The Pro Version can not handle this long file names better the only one that can handle it is the zip archive type that can be selected in the job settings.

    At moment, i see no easier way to handle these large file names.
