• Hi I’m using WordPress 4.5.2 running The Moon theme. theartofstandupcomedy.com
Last week when adding comments shortcodes to Page.php, I broke my site. Hoping to start over, I backed up this version of the site and copied the code/content from each page (to add back after a clean install). Then I “dropped” or deleted my old database, in an attempt to troubleshoot on my own.

In the meantime, I asked Pixflow support to advise and they reset my theme. So, in starting over, I reinstalled wordpress and was then able to load the pages I had added back in preview but not in my main page.

Now the site still will not load and only the preloader was visible. As a result, I called Godaddy (my host) after looking through several topics to see if my IP had been blocked and if everything in my database was working. Godaddy tried several options, which included disabling my plugins as such, no change. My rep suspected that the theme set preloader was the problem and after I turned it off, I was able to view my menu but no page content.

In clicking through the menu buttons, I noted how the links updated:

    Home icon – https://theartofstandupcomedy.com/#home
    AOSC – https://theartofstandupcomedy.com/#aosc
    ENROLLMENT – https://theartofstandupcomedy.com/#enrollment
    CONTACT – https://theartofstandupcomedy.com/#contact

… which a custom permalink structure whereas, for the pages that load:

    REVIEWS – https://theartofstandupcomedy.com/?page_id=167
    ALUMNI – https://theartofstandupcomedy.com/?page_id=165

… plain permalink structure is used, which is how I set permalink structure when recreating these pages.

How can I update this link structure in my menu so that my main page displays and my menu works?

ADDITIONAL NOTE: the AOSC page has 4 links to external pages whose permalinks are in plain structure, but I have no way to test that they’ve loaded.

  • Hi, smallbritney, & welcome to the WordPress support forum. Could we please see your .htaccess file?

Also, the # indicates an in-page link, rather than a link to an external page. Likely the permalinks should be set to something other than plain, i.e., postname, perhaps. Lastly, how are the siteurl & WordPress url set in your general settings?
