• I created a simple category list (recipes) with sub categories. I have a page with a recipe index and then listed the categories on the left sidebar with a widget. Problem is, when you click a certain category, all my posts show up and not just the related posts to that category. I have no idea how to fix it or what’s wrong. I am using the Brunch Pro Theme with Genesis.
    Site is: https://www.kiragray.org

Please help! This should be an easy fix? I don’t use any of my own code. I just use the template with wordpress.

  • Are you using any plugins on the site that have anything to do with category management?

Yes AVH Extended Categories. However, I did delete it completely, removing all files and it still had the same issue with the regular wordpress category widget.

And I guess I am using the WP Ultimate recipe Plugin but I don’t think that’s the problem.

Wait….I think that is the problem. The WP Ultimate recipe. Shoot. But still not sure how to fix it.

I would ensure that it is an up to date version of the plugin. Then I would switch your blog over to another theme and then switch back and see if that fixes the issue. Use twentyfifteen or another wordpress theme. If you can see it working properly in the other theme then you know it is a theme issue and not a plugin issue.

If this is the case paste in the code from your category.php file.

It works now because I completely deleted the WP Ultimate recipe plugin so now I know that was the issue. Which is very unfortunate as I put a lot of work into posts under that plugin. I re did categories without the plugin and started over. So now I need to figure out a good reciep plugin to add that will not mess up the categories like the WP Ultimate recipe plugin did. If anyone has any suggestions on good, simple recipe plug ins that show up well on search engines, that would be great! Decided not to use the WP Ultimate one anymore.
