    Hello,
Just updated to WP6 and fixed widget stopped working.
I went to the options and selected Test new version, but still it’s not working.
    What could I do?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hey @susanna961,

    thanks for reaching out.

I checked your site to see which theme you are using. Is it this one?

If so, I installed WordPress 6.0 on a test site and was able to fix a few legacy widgets and new blocks in the sidebar without problems.

Please let me know if your setup is different and how I can reproduce the problem you are experiencing.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Yes, that’s the theme!
Maybe is a problem with another plugin… I just tried to delete the animation effect, but it’s still not working.

    Hey @susanna961,

there are a couple of widgets that show the Fixed Widget options in the backend, but are not working in the frontend. That is not new behavior and is part of a larger rewrite on our end.

Other widgets’ block options seem to be reset when reloading the widget screen.

I would still like to narrow it down for you to see if there is a workaround. Which type of widgets are you trying to fix?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
the page https://externatorainhadonaamelia.pt/apresentacao/equipa/ is bulti with Page Builder by SiteOrigin.
The widgets are a site origin editor (simple text EQUIPA on top left of page), and the widget below which is a naveigation menu.
    Best regards

    Hey Susanna,

    thanks for your feedback.

I haven’t worked with SiteOrigin’s page builder and don’t know how compatible they are with plugins like Fixed Widget, which are built on WordPress core.

How did you make the elements sticky? Did you use the Custom Fixed Elements option in the plugin settings or did you check a box to make an element sticky? If the latter, was that box in the page builder interface or the default WordPress block editor?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
I checked a box in site origin widget to make the element sticky, before the update it was working fine, but maybe it’s a problem with the page builder interface.
Is there another way to make the element sticky?
    Thank you

    Hey Susanna,

you can use the Custom Fixed Elements option as described here to make individual elements sticky. It depends a lot on the theme’s code if that works or not, but is worth a try.

    Hi Thomas,
I tried adding class and ID in Fixed Widget Options / Custom Fixed Element, but nothing helped.
Now I disabled the Test new version option and it’s working fine: https://externatorainhadonaamelia.pt/apresentacao/equipa

    Hi Thomas,
But I think this is a temporary solution, since the new version is rolled out to all users in the near future…
    Best regards

We have seen many cases after the 6.0 release that we won’t be able to solve with the new version and will, therefore, keep the old one as well. I will think about how we can present this in the interface in one of the next updates. There is a good reason to allow users to test that “new version” and use it, if possible.

    Thanks,
    Thomas
