I have put a level of protection on the wp-admin folder requiring authentication before accessing files there. But this breaks wordfence scan, which accesses that folder, if I am not mistaken.

Can you of a way to run the scan without requiring that access or, alternatively, find a way of providing credentials to scan (which I do not like at all, unless some form of very strong authentication is used)?

  • Hello Josiah,
I’m afraid that’s not possible. We do not support solutions where wp-admin requires extra credentials. The main reason for this is that wp-ajax.php is located in that folder and it’s needed by many plugins and themes, including Wordfence.
