Links to documents not working

Theme Customizr.

Hi. Im trying to link to a document in a new post which isn’t working. I click ‘add media’, select the doc, insert into post and it looks like it works. In preview it does work but when I publish the post there is no link! Help, its driving me crazy!
fyi, I’ve updated to the latest version of WP, updated the theme and all plugins, disabled all active plugins and none of the above has worked. A note of worthy mention: When I use some of the other post formats links do work but of course they don’t look right. Its the standard format post that I want to use which isn’t working.
