• Hi, since last week suddenly I don’t receive notifications anymore on the email address I’ve been using for years when someone leaves a comment. Strange thing is that I do occasionally receive an update if it is a comment which needs approval (first time commenters), but others do not show up.

    I’ve tried changing the email address it is sent to and changing it back to the original one, but this didn’t fix the issue. Also checked if the comments didn’t end up in my spam folder, which also wasn’t the case.

    How can I solve this issue?

    Hi, just installed it and tried sending an email, which I received just fine. I haven’t installed any new plugins lately, so this suddenly not working surprises me.

    Are you using the latest theme?

    Can you post a url?

    I am so glad you posted this question because this is the exact same situation happening with me.

    After over a week of talking with anyone I know, my hosting company said what is happening is their servers aren’t even being notified of all new comments. One or two get through, but not the majority of them, so I am not getting the email notifications that I typically have over the past year. They told me it is either a WP configuration problem, or something with a plugin. I deactivated all plugins, and it still doesn’t work. They said there hasn’t been any change to their servers or anything on that end, so I am at a loss for what to do. I would be interested in what someone can do for help since I have talked with just about everyone I can, including asking for help on this support forum last week.

    First off, although you can test if the email works with the plugin it has caused me to have to reapprove all commenters who were able to leave comments after me allowing them to, so be aware of this.

    As for the theme, there are no updates for it and I’m using the Untitled theme.

    I have this issue for both blogs I’m running, myfilmviews.com and defilmkijker.com

    @lexie2302, which hosting company are you using? I haven’t contacted mine, but just wondering. I also have the issue that moderation mails sometimes do get through, but tonight saw that isn’t the case all the time.

    Both sites show problems with a plugin
    ml-parallax. Try renaming it ml-parallax-old

    If your email is working then it is not a WordPress configuration problem.

    Have you tried:
    -deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
    -switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    @nostra My hosting company is bluehost. I have talked with some other people who use bluehost and wordpress, but they don’t seem to be having issues. What is your hosting company?

    I already reached out to the makers of my themes just to see what they said. Both said it was a wordpress problem, not a theme.

    @kmessinger I downloaded that plugin, but it has no details on how to use it, so I am not sure what to do from there. I will say that I get emails for everything else (like backups, etc), but not comments. Although a few get through occasionally, the majority aren’t. We have tried deactivating all the plugins last week and still had the problems. Even though both websites use a different theme, I tried switching themes on each blog and testing out the comments, that still didn’t help the problem, so it doesn’t seem to be theme or plugin related.

    This all started about a week and a half ago. Today I had about 20 comments total and received only one email saying I had a new comment on a post.

    @lexi2302, I’m using bluehost as well. As for the plugin, just go to tools and you will find it there and you can send out an email to test. Like you I received some (but not all) mails, mainly for approval. I think I might have the issue for about the same time.

    @kmessinger, what’s the issue with the plugin? btw, I have deactivated it as I wasn’t using it no more.

    @nostra I used the plugin and it sent a test email just fine to multiple emails. This morning I had one comment notification, but once again I logged in and saw 5 or 6 others that I was not emailed about. Do you use the jetpack plugin by any chance?

    Yeah, I do use Jetpack.

    I do as well. I have had a couple of issues with it the past week or so. I wasn’t sure if that was related at all. The other strange thing that is happening in my wordpress dashboard, the top right comment notification icon usually lights up orange the minute I get a new comment. That has stopped working too. When I click on that icon now, all it does it acts like it is loading, it no longer shows up with the new comments.

    The plugin is just a one time test to see if WP’s mail is working.

    I have also sent a mail to Jetpack, just to double check there isn’t an issue on their side…awaiting their response.
