how to link attachment.php page and show picure

  • I’ve seen the codex about how to do this but either it’s not working or I just can’t grasp why it’s not working.

    I created a page named attachment.php but I can’t seem to make the hardcoding in the link itself get to the attachment page with the photograph and the caption.

    So in my POST, under the text textarea (not visual) I included a link that I got from the codex pages but I don’t think I’m editing it correctly.

    I see the id with pretty permalinks being served up: https://htmlmock.com/sts/beta/thrasher/ but I can’t seem to get the image to show. I’m assuming it’s trying to call attachment.php?
