    Hello,

For what I see, the open graph generated from Yoast gives the original file to Facebook.
In my case, it’s a 2400*1600 pixels file.
But even with this resolution file, the share picture on FB is very bad, generated from Facebook in low-res.

Facebook indicates that for HiRes, picture should be 1200×630 pixels. Could it be possible, for exemple, to generate such a size when possible (it’s to say when picture is at least that size) and use it for the share open graph ? Or any other idea ?

I also think there is something similar with Twitter, but I haven’t investigated it for the moment.

    Thanks in advance

    No proposition ?

Yoast does not provide support here, as noted in the forum. If it’s a bug you can report to the github section.

For anything else, you need to wait for a kind soul (hello!) to post some kind of suggestion here.

I am not having this issue with our sites. You might look at the ‘page source’ for one of your posts to make sure you actually have all the proper open graph (OG) elements setup right — which “should” include link to high-res version of image for each post, generally pulled from the “featured” image.

In our case, we use 600×450 images, and they all show up high resolution on Twitter cards and Facebook posts, and look great.

Note that images with a lot of RED, will tend to look a bit crappy, when resaved as red does not do well with JPEG. Of course, Chrome and many other systems are using webp format conversion which does much better.

Not sure if this helps — but I would look at your page source to see WHAT your OG tags actually have, to make sure the image being included as link in your meta is the high res version and not something like a small thumbnail.

    Hello neotrope,

    thanks for your reply.

In fact it’s not a bug, but a suggestion.

When FB says to use a 1200×630 file, it’s because they are waiting for that size for high resolution, so passing a 600×450 file like for twitter, will not give me high resolution in FB.

The posts looks poorly on high definition computer screens, such as for example retina macbook from Apple. Even if the file in OG is a 2400*1600, as I explained in my first post. ??

Is there another place where I can send my suggestion if not this support plugin area ?

    Have a nice day ??

You could send them a suggestion via their website, probably.

Our images look great on retina devices on Facebook, but I think it’s because mod_pagespeed is pre-converting to webp format before FB grabs them.

    Your mileage may vary ??
