I am working on helping a client solidify her website. Unfortunately, I’m still really, really new at managing the nitty-gritty of WordPress.

    https://www.evangelinedenmark.com/blog

Each time I click on a share button, instead of getting the option to share, I get a pop-up window showing me the blog page I just navigated away from instead.

I am using the Harmonic theme.

I searched for some help and saw that generally an out of date version of jQuery was the cause? (At least according to 3 year old answers) Unfortunately, I don’t know how to go into my code and fix that without breaking everything else.

I just tested the first three sharing buttons and they behaved exactly as expected, so it’s possible your issue is caused by something in your browser setup.

Have you tried a different browser?

Have you tried turning off all browser extensions/add-ons temporarily to see if one of them is interfering?

The sharing buttons you’re using are being generated by a Jetpack module. If you can’t find a solution on your end by following the steps above, I’d suggest you post in the Jetpack forum to get help with this issue, since this is the general plugins forum and the Jetpack folks won’t spot this thread here:

Great! What was the culprit? Sharing it in the forum may help others who come across the same issue in the future.

Right! Sorry. Still new to this!

When my friend and I did a bit more digging, we found that the permalinks were set to “Custom Structure” instead of “Pos Namet.”

    Settings –> Permalinks

This set ALL the permalinks to each post to the main blog link (www.evangelinedenmark.com/blog), which, I am assuming, is what was massively confusing the share buttons.

After switching the permalink settings back to “Post Name” we have not had issues.

Thanks for sharing that. ?? And glad you got things back to normal.
