    I must be doing something wrong here… I had a Newsletter-widget in my header, but it disappeared. So I found in the customizer a new widget-area called ‘Header (nxt to logo/title) and thought that I’d place it there. But the widget doesn’t show up. Some help would be nice.

  • Hi Tim. Can you post a link to your site? Thanks.

    Yes, of course, bdbrown. should have done that in the first place… https://www.elektroretailmagazine.nl

    In Customize > Header > Header Advertisement Widget, you enabled the “Display a widget in your header” option. Then in Appearance > Widgets you added you ad code in a text widget to the Header widget?

    First I did indeed enable in Customize > Header > Header Advertisement Widget, the “Display a widget in your header” option. Then in Appearance > Widgets I added the Newletter-widget to the Header (next to logo/title) area.

    I don’t see the Header Ads widget in your header. Might be related to these errors on your site:

    Or it could be a conflict with a plugin.

    I removed Googleads (I think) and it’s still not showing up. When I look at header.php in the hueman-child-master directory the code looks strange.I downloaded the latest version of Hueman and copied a new version of header.php to this directory, but it still looks strange.

    This is what it looks like:
    > >

    ‘topbar’,’menu_class’=>’nav container-inner group’,’container’=>”,’menu_id’ => ”,’fallback_cb’=> false)); ?>

    ‘header’,’menu_class’=>’nav container-inner group’,’container’=>”,’menu_id’ => ”,’fallback_cb’=> false)); ?>

    Has anyone looked into this for me? I’m getting quite desperate…

    The strange thing is, if I look at header.php thru Finder/Preview, I see the code as it should be! But if I use Filezilla and open header.php, I see the code I posted earlier!

    Has anyone looked into this for me? I’m getting quite desperate…

    When I look at header.php in the hueman-child-master directory

    Using Appearance > Editor? FTP?

    if I look at header.php thru Finder/Preview,

    Are you referring to the admin Editor? Is this the header.php in your child theme?

    But if I use Filezilla and open header.php

    Again, where is this file located?

    What happens if your rename/remove the header.php file from your child theme so your site uses the default parent theme file? Does the site display the header ads widget?

    Sorry, bdbrown, you’re quite right. But I was afraid my question had slipped way from your sight. Next time I’ll try to be more patient.

    In the meantime I completely messed up my site and had to restore it from a backup and, guess what: the issue is resolved!

    Of course I’d like to know what caused the issue in the first place, but for now I’m happy everything’s working again.

    So, thanks for the support and I did take a look at https://jobs.wordpress.net/. Always good to know about these possibilities!

    But I was afraid my question had slipped way from your sight.

    I do my best to follow up with every topic that I post in. If the user takes the time to pose a question, I believe they deserve an answer, even if it’s “Sorry, I don’t have a solution.” I understand that if you have what is for you a high priority issue, waiting several hours for a response may seem like a long time. But I check back when I have time, and my goal is not to leave a user without an answer.

    completely messed up my site and had to restore it from a backup

    And that’s exactly why backups are important.

    Glad you got your problem fixed. If you don’t have any further questions here then please mark the topic as Resolved. Thanks.

    Okay bdbrown. I have 1 more question, but I’ll open a new thread for that.
