Question about proper use
-
I think I’m using this plugin in an unintended way so I wanted to ask if this might cause a problem I’m not aware of.
I publish a weekly comic called Brudders on a subsite of my main website. In recent weeks, whenever I post an announcement for a new comic release, I’m using QuickPage/Post Redirect to immediately redirect visitors from the ‘announcement’ post to the actual comic on the subsite. You can see what I mean by visiting https://littlegreendog.com and clicking on the most recent Brudders comic feature post–clicking on it will redirect you to the subsite instead of the post on the main website. I know this isn’t the intended use for this plugin but it seems to do what I want.
My question is, is better to use the default ‘301’ option or the ‘Meta’ option for this purpose? Either method seems to work how I want it to but I wanted to know if there is a difference I should be aware of. (For the time being, I’m leaving it on the default ‘301’ setting since it sounds like the ‘Meta’ option may be doing something extra that I probably don’t need.)
Thanks in advance for any helpful answers and explanations.
