    Hi there,

I’ve been using the Ziplist plugin and I’m the latest victim of Google’s manual actions for violation of its Structured Rich Snippet Markup. I suspect that the Ziplist ratings markup is what caused this violation of Google’s structured data policies.

While searching for a solution, I came across Zip recipes and an entry on the EasyRecipes forum where you state that you solved this problem with your plugin. So, I went ahead and successfully transferred my recipe posts from Ziplist to Zip recipes by deactivating Ziplist and all looks fine.

My question is: am I all set now? Is the issue fixed simply by switching from Ziplist to Zip Recipes? Is there anything else for me to do before contacting Google with a reconsideration request?

Thanks in advance for your help (which I hope will come soon, cuz I’m on a crazy deadline to fix this problem for my client).

P.S. I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to register with your plugin. After I enter my name, email and click register, it says registering forever but never completes the registration.

  • Hi kshi,

Yeah, you’re pretty much set! I really wanted to make Zip Recipes a 100% drop in replacement. Double check a recipe that’s generated by Zip Recipes with Google Structured Data Testing tool ( https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool ) and you should be good!

As for registering, that’s really odd. Try a different browser (I heard of another person who had trouble with IE 11).

Let me know how it works for you! Always feel free to email me at [email protected]

Thanks so much for your prompt response and the great news!

I was particularly concerned with the ratings markup and noticed that there is no ratings option in the Zip recipes plugin settings, so am I right in assuming that this issue should be over and done with from now on?

Btw I was finally able to register. So that’s great too.

    Thanks again!

    Hi kshi,

    No problem at all.

Yeah, the old rating system was only for authors and it wasn’t great (hence the spam issue).

I’ve created a new (premium) feature called Visitor Ratings. Many more premium features coming as well. You can check them out here: https://dev.ziprecipes.net/

Would love it if you joined!

    Cheers,

Oh, I meant to ask, was the issue with registration because of a specific browser?! I’d like to fix that ??

    That’s awesome news. Thanks!

Re: the registration issue it does seems to be browser related, though I’m not 100% sure. I think I was using Chrome when I was unsuccessful. I switched to Safari and it worked.

Google gave me the same thing and I’m wondering if zip recipes can be causing this? I wanted to try deactivating the plugin but I wanted to know if I will lose all of my recipes if I do this. I have a couple hundred recipes and if they all got lost for this test, well that would be bad. Especially since I dont know if zip recipes is the reason for this spammy snippet google error nonsense.

    Thanks,

    J

    Hi grilling24x7,

Do you have any details about what’s causing Google to do this?

This issue with recipe ratings has been fixed in Zip Recipes a long time ago.

Feel free to email me more info at [email protected]
