• Hi all,

I’m having a massive issue with wordpress, I don’t know if the issue is a server issue or whether it’s wordpress 4.5.2 but the situation is when trying to import posts, pages etc I get through step one assigning users once I click to continue with the import it seems as though it’s importing but goes to a 404 page instead.

There are no plugins installed except for wordpress importer, the xml is only 653kb in size and there is no theme but the standard installed.

I already have my hosting company checking for server issues that may cause this issue, I’ve also read other posts (all quite dated) and they believe its something to do with nonce. I haven’t got the faintest clue as to why this is happening or how to fix it…

In all my years of using wordpress I’ve never experienced this issue, can someone please advise of any ways to deal with this?

    thank you kindly in advance

  • Is anything being imported at all? It sounds like your script might be timing out. The only way, I believe, that you could determine this is if a partial import is completed. You might have to increase the script timeout for php if this is the case. Another alternative would be to break up your import into sections like all the pages first, then all the posts.

    Hi Bob,

That’s what I thought as well but usually on timeout you’d get a response of impot failed rather than it redirecting to a frontend 404 page error.

I will increase the timeout time and will also split the import to test partials; will get back to you with results

    Thank you for the advice

I really hope you get this sorted out. I wish you the best of luck with your project.

    Regards,

    Bob

I found the issue to be when trying to download and import all attachments then it will go to a frontend 404. If I import without checking the attachment box then it imports pages/posts etc perfectly fine… I can’t find anything that can somewhat explain the issue
