Change what post-meta data is shown, and how it looks?

  • Sorry I am very new to css so might not be making any sense.

    I am trying to work out how I change what post-meta data is shown above the posts and also how to style it.

    At the moment it is showing just the date. For the post preview (on home page) i would like to display ‘Date | Genre’ (The genre category is set up as a custom taxonomy).

    And for the the post pages I would like to show:
    Date | Genre
    Published by Author

    Unfortunately I am working in mamp so cannot send a url. I could send screen shots if needed.
