woocommerce enable guest checkout does not work

  • Yes, I have been looking through threads related to this problem, but none of them have yet helped.
    I have WordPress 4.5.2 running the Make theme 1.7.1 and WC 2.5.5.
    I have no caching plug-in installed
    I’m not providing a link here, as the site is not yet intended for public consumption – not until I get it working! But it’s a very simple thing – the option of creating an account appears, guest checkout simply does not.
    What else might be missing?
