    I’m using a theme called Business Elite and have the home page set to be static (I’m making a web site…NOT a blog). For some reason that I cannot figure out, I have this 1/2 inch blank white area that runs across my entire screen. It’s underneath the Menu bar, but oddly about a 1/2 inch under it. So I have an Image that’s set as the background, but it’s interrupted at the top by this blank bar (ugly!). I’m no programmer, so if it’s going to take my editing one of the themes php files, I’d really appreciate as specific instructions as you can give.

    Here’s a link that shows what the home page looks like. It’s not the actual site (keeping it secret for now), but I posted it on my other web site. Ugly Blank Bar

    Thanks,

    Grey

    You can click that “Ugly Blank Bar” link in my post, but if you don’t want to do that the home page is up here: https://darrahphoto.com/wp-home-screen.jpg

    I can’t inspect the element with just a photo. I need the actual page the issue is on.

    Thanks

    Sorry, the site url is under wraps for now. Hopefully someone else who’s seen this blank space on a static page with a photo as the background image might know what’s causing it. I did try another theme, set up the same way, and had a similar blank area. I’m guessing it’s got something to do with most things wordpress wanting to be a blog and not a web site.

    Thanks,

    Grey

    OK, Kinda hard to help when you do not want to provide us with the resources to help you.

    Please read the Welcome Support Forum

    You can post links to screenshots to illustrate your issues, but don’t use screenshots in place of a website link. Forum volunteers need a link to the webpage with the issue, to see a working (or broken) example of it.

    My intent is not to upset you or anyone else. I guess I’ll have to hope for someone that has seen the problem before.

    Thanks,

    I have discovered that the offending blank line running across my screen is the footer. Whenever I type anything on my page, it causes the 1/2 inch tall blank line to move down by the number of lines I typed. I’m guessing that’s something in the footer.php that needs to be edited, but I don’t know what.

    @greydarrah,

    It is normal for footer to have white space, which further gets covered with footer widgets. In case you want to remove it follow the steps below:

    1. add the following to style.css #content {min-height:500px;}
    where you can change the dimensions based on your device dimensions
    2. go to your theme footer.php find <div id=”footer-bottom”> and add teh following as displayed in gif:
